A key aspect to successfully exporting your product overseas is to have a good understanding of your target market so that you can select the right product from your product line, prepare product packaging and/or modify the product for exporting. To do this you must research your target market by conducting market research and speaking with your foreign contacts, buyers and customers to gain a good understanding of what products you can sell and where is the best place to sell them.
If you have a large product line, you may want to start with one or two products that you think will be successful overseas and that do not require a great deal of modification. You may choose to modify a certain product to meet the needs and tastes of the foreign market you are targeting as well as any final destination legal requirements applicable to your product.
When it comes to your product’s packaging think about your target audience, taking into account any cultural preferences or labeling standards that should be applied.
